You eat at your college cafeteria every lunchtime. However, you think it needs some improvements.

Write a letter to the college magazine. In your letter,

  • explain what you like about the cafeteria

  • say what is wrong with it

  • suggest how it could be improved

Dear Mr. Nam,

I am Sun Han, a senior student of Computer Engineering. I am writing to express my feelings about the cafeteria, and suggest some possible improvements to it which I believe will make students, teachers, and staff more comfortable.

I would like to say that I really like the place because it is really cozy, and it is where I eat my lunch almost every day. It has also become a big part of my college life since I spent a lot of time with my friends there and made valueable and unforgettable memories.

However, there are some deficiencies that I think it should be improved. Firstly, the staff try to keep the tables clean, but there are not enough of them at peak time to do this task. Secondly, there are a number of students who do not wait in the queue to be served, which is very annoying to us. Finally, the cafeteria should have better ventilation, especially in the summer.

In my opinion, it would be a good idea if more signs are put around the cafeteria asking students to put their dirty plates and cutlery on the trolleys and to throw their rubbish away. Hiring more students as workers can be another solution. Also, I think the cafeteria manager should remind students not to break the rules nor cut the line. Finally, we will appreciate it if you have more windows open or some extra air cleaners when the surroundings get too hot.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. As a big time fan of your magazine, I really appreciate the effort you have put in making the magazine informative and interesting.

Sincerely yours,

Sun Han
