Some parents think that helping their children with homework is good. Others think children should do their homework on their own. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People have different views about whether it is more beneficial for young individuals to receive assistance from their parents with their assignment or if it is better to let them do their work by themselves. While it is a fact that giving some help to children can sometimes bring about advantages, my view is that doing their task independently can have more long-term positive effects.

On one hand, giving a hand to children with homework can lead to positive effects on the parent-child relationship in many ways.

First off, by doing homework together, parents and children can build a strong sense of intimacy and trust which are factors in building a solid relationship. As a result, children can become more confident in expressing themselves to their parents, and may possibly uncover some problems like lack of academic achievements, difficulty in socializing and absense of interest which can be managed immediately.

Secondly, doing homework together can also help the child achieve better academic outputs, broaden his or her educational horizon, and have more scholastic knowledge since parents can give their child the most effective advice. If the child is facing some complex assignments and is having difficulty adressing them, th eparent can suggest some ideas to help the child come up with the best solution.

On the other hand, doing the assignment on their own can bring about practical benefits in many ways.

To begin with, children can develop a conscious independence when doing their tasks on their own which they can make use of during their adulthood. On top of that, students can also build academic knowledge and a sense of responsibility knowing that they have been entrusted with a task where their skills are put to the test.

Apart from that, doing the assignment independently also helps children enhance their problem solving abilities because they put more effort into their after-school assignments by themselves instead of asking for help. Hence, they do not lose their motivation easily even if they face difficult academic situations.

In conclusion, I understand that there are various merits in helping children with their homework; however, I still believe that having self-reliance especially in performing assignments is educationally more beneficial to children.
